Christmas Strawberry Picking

IMG_6790-0.JPGSummertime calls for road trips, ice-cream and fresh fruit. So when both Anna and I suggested strawberry picking as a summer activity we’ve always wanted to do, it soon became our next adventure.
We went to the Phil Greig Strawberry Gardens in Kumeu on their first day of opening for the season, and the fields were abundant! Here are some pics – Charlotte and I filled our buckets half way, while Anna’s strawberry obsession became clear when the lady laughed and asked “uh, for one person?” ..these strawberries are that good.IMG_6806-1.JPGIMG_6783.JPGI found the trick with strawberry selection is to go for the really dark red, small ones. They’re the juiciest and most flavoursome. And amazing when warmed by the sun! We had such a lovely day out – and it’s fun to do something a bit different and spontaneous. Looks like we’ll be creating strawberry themed dishes for the next couple of weeks, yum!

I am going to try and post more regularly now, I actually just finished uni which is exciting and I have more time now to go adventuring – so make sure to follow (either by email or blog account) to stay up to date with upcoming posts. Much love, and hope you all had a fantastic Christmas.
